FITUR – a smart connection in tourism

The international tourism trade fair, FITUR, takes place every year in the IFEMA Trade Fair Centre of Madrid, and become one of the biggest international tourism fairs and the 1st one on the Iberian Peninsula.

According to the specialists, this fair is one of the most important opening to the Latin American travel companies

TOUR TRAVEL by ODAS GLOBAL CONSULTING was present at FITUR 2017 as co-exhibitor at the Romanian stand, prepared by the National Authority for Tourism

The 37th International Tourism Trade Fair started on January 18 until January 22, 2017.

The exhibitors were travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and accommodation, service companies, inbound Spain, international organizations, and so on. This year around 10.000 exhibiting companies were present from 166 countries.

FITUR was a truly nice experience for our travel agency team, because they had the opportunity to met and connect with interesting people from all over the world.

Companies tried to connect this other through their stand and promotion articles and activities.

We were impressed with their work, this being the first date on the global agenda for tourism sector specialists. Regarding the organisation, we can say that the exhibitors covered eight sectors, according to their area/ region of activity, profile, significance and so on.

We were hosted at the 4th Sector, together with other European countries, such as Portugal, Greece, Turky, France, Italy, Russia, Palestine, Libano, Slovakia, Malta, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Armenia, Austria and so on. Each sector was unique and interesting, and helped people to appreciate all the tourism proposals. An exclusive opportunity to share, study and network with others and exchange experiences and knowledge.

During the first days, our stand was visited by the Embassy of Romania to Spain and Claudia Tapardel, which is a Romanian Member of the European Parliament for the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats

Journalists, bloggers and media representans were also present at FITUR. Saturday, the National Authority for Tourism and the Embassy of Romania to Spain organized a special event for all the participants and exhibitors.

A Romanian team performed a Romanian folk dance called “hora” on several popular songs. A rich range of traditional dances still are in Romania due to the perpetuation of the medieval organization until the middle 19th century and afterward the separation imposed by Nicolae Ceausescu, leader of the romanian communism, which resulted in the extension of a farmer life style. Romania is an exceptional European country as its folklore still happens in its natural atmosphere, but unfortunately this is now fast disappearing with the spread of western culture and contemporary technology.

FITUR is a great opportunity for all tour operators and travel agencies to develop long term partnerships and connections working across language barriers.
