1.      Alba Carolina Fortress

Its great walls helped the military defense, but over the years, it received some upgrading works that instilled beauty and elegance.

3.      Rupea Fortress




Traveling to Brasov, one of the oldest settlements in Romania is found, dating from the Paleolithic and early Neolithic. Built on the ruins of a Dacian fort conquered by Romans, it is a remarkable presence seen from far distance. Medieval creation with complex architecture, the fortress is documented around the year of 1324. Rupea Fortress served as a defense system and had a key role as a main link between Transylvania, Moldavia and Wallachia. Each month, more than 10.000 visitors come by.

4.      Rasnov Fortress





Continuing the tour travel in the heart of Transylvania, a peasant citadel, built in the 13th and 14th centuries by the inhabitants of Rasnov, protected the people against Turkish and Tatar oppression. Historic monument with a simple architectonic style, the most important aspect was that it had to be difficult to conquer. Made of stone and brick, the walls are 5 meters high and the citadel is composed of two courts. Rasnov represents a positive example of a well preserved and restored fortress in Transylvania.

5.      The Fortress of Deva





Situated on the top of a volcanic hill, this fortress is found in the city of Deva, Hunedoara County. Medieval monument of secular architecture, it is dated beginning with the 13th century. It was owned by lords, counts and duchesses. Legends of fairies and girls with hair made of gold that owned the lands surrounded the citadel of Deva. Built not only for military purposes and observation points, the Deva fortress wanted to be used as a residence.

6.      Poenari Fortress




This tour travel around the fortress ends with a famous construction of Poenari Fortress, also known as Poenari Citadel, the residence of Vlad the Impaler, the harsh ruler feared by many. Built in the 13th century in Arges County on Mount City, this historic monument represents a valuable piece in Romania’s objectives. It is said that Poenari Fortress is the “real” Castle of Dracula, the vampire in Bram Stoker’s novel.
